Assam Telecom Circle was formed on January 20, 1987. The Chief General Manager, Assam Telecom Circle is in overall control of all Telecom Services provided by BSNL in the entire state of Assam. The Circle Head Quarter is at Panbazar, Guwahati-781001. CGMT is assisted by Sr.GM(NWP-CFA &IT), GM(Fin), GM(S&M), GM(EB&Biz Plg), GM(NW Plg-CM), GM(NW Opn-CM), GM(HR/Admn). In addition, the GMs in-charge of the 7(seven) Telecom Districts (SSA) also report to the CGM at Circle Office.

M.Sc (Electronics)/M.Sc.(Computer Science) from a recognized institution/university.
For Diploma Engineer Apprentices : Three years Engineering Diploma in Telecommunication/ Electronics/ Electrical/ Radio/ Computer Engineering ,Instrumentation, Information Technology from a Central Govt./State Govt. recognized institution OR
B.Sc (Electronics)/(Computer Science) in Electronics from a recognized institution/university.
